Very little of the fur is glued on, so that's why it looks a bit poofy. This is a work in progress that I will wear to AC. It's basically a refurbished version of my first fursuit head that I wore to FC.

Thanks you so much but... I make my fursuit head using sponge, wire and hot glue. I don't have balaclavas and I can't buy this. You can give me a guide on how to do it moving jaw? But must be carefully explained.

Hmm.... I actually don't use that method. I only use the balaclava method, so I don't have experience with the wire method. Most professionals only use the balaclava method so I follow their instructions. I'm afraid I can't help if you're not using a balaclava. :(

An alternative method is to use plastic mesh like this: [link]

The moving jaw is made by creating a hinge so that when you put the head on, the bottom jaw fits your lower jaw and it opens near the back of your jaw. It is important to make a hinge using a small plastic or metal piece for the jaw to hinge on and keep it in place. Elastic fabric can be attached from bottom jaw to top jaw to help it spring back and forth. It is important to buy elastic that is not too stiff for your jaw movement. Otherwise it will be difficult to open your mouth. When you glue the fur onto the head, make sure not to put glue right over the hinge of both sides of the jaw, as it will prevent the hinge from working.

That is all I know about the non-balaclava method.

One last thing: Here is a step by step guide of a good fursuit maker who used to use the non-balaclava method and used wire: [link]

I hope this helps!^_^

I learned how to make moving jaws from YouTube. ^_^ They have great free tutorials by fursuit makers.

Here is a good one:

Another good one- it is a series of three videos

And the last one is part 5 of six videos.

It is easier to show you rather than just tell how to make the moving jaw. If there is something difficult or confusing you still want to know, please ask me. :) I am always happy to help.
